And The Award Does NOT Go To...

Despite the ridiculous amount of time devoted to deciphering "who" celebrities are wearing and the giggly, verbose speeches, I enjoy watching the oscars. Its about as close to betting on horses as I'll ever get. If only the nominees has as amusing names; and the winner for best supporting actor goes to...Fat Chance Cinnamon!

I do, however, often disagree with what movies get honored. That's why, although I will make an effort to see a good handful of the nominated films, at this time of year, I like to reflect on some of my favorites movies of years past that never came close to the little gold man. I don't mean the truly awful films that are close to my heart, but the films that are well made and endure as favorites. Some that top my list are: The Merchant of Venice, Ever After, The Mask of Zorro (one sound nom doesn't count), Gun Shy, and Star Trek: First Contact. There are many others, and will be in the future.

There are people and films I will be rooting for this year, though. I was glad to see Gary Oldman recognized for his performance in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy (how does this guy not have an Oscar yet?) and, I'm putting it out there, I'm pulling for Kung Fu Panda: 2. Here are a few predictions I am certain to happen: someone will win, someone will lose, and someone will fall asleep before the show is over.
